Anyone who has spent much time at FONK has seen the young man with the big smile.  That’s Zoffi Bakabulindi who works part-time at FONK, doing odd jobs and clearning.  Zoffi was born in a small village in Uganda.  His village is very poor and the children don’t have the same access to clothes, toys and books as North American children. So Zoffi collects used goods from the people in the neighbourhood to send home to his village.

The children of my village will be so happy.

– Zoffi, Part-time FONK employee

The Republic of Uganda is in east Africa.  Life in Zoffi’s home village is very different from life in North America.   Zoffi likes to send his family and friends things that that they cannot get.

Zoffi moved to Toronto three years ago to study chemistry at University of Toronto.  He supports himself and pays his tuition by working three jobs.  Besides his job at FONK, Zoffi works part-time at the Big Chill and also at O’Deary Library.

You can help Zoffi help the people back home by dropping off gently used clothes, books and toys to his collection box.
